Thousands of people on Saturday began gathering at Tel Aviv's Rothschild Boulevard and Habima Square in preparation for a massive demonstration over the high cost of living, expected to being at 9pm.

The activists will march from Rothschild Boulevard toward the city's government complex where a rally will be held.

Police have closed roads in the area and have advised people not to reach the area by car.
