Thousands of Israeli children are involved in prostitution or are taken advantage of sexually in a commercial capacity, according to new research by the Knesset's research and information center, Army Radio reported Wednesday.

The report was published by the sub committee of the commission for children's rights, which deals with the sex trafficking of women and children.

The researchers estimated that the cases that were exposed during the report, those that sell to the welfare system in Israel, are only the tip of the iceberg for the phenomenon.
