Three IAF choppers leave to join Romania rescue effort

Three IAF choppers carrying about 80 IDF delegates including IAF representatives and members of the IAF's elite 669 search-and-rescue unit, Oketz special canine unit, Rabbinical Corps, Medical Corps and Spokesperson's Unit departed for the Carpathian Mountains in Romania Wednesday morning, the IDF Spokesperson reported.

The teams are headed to the scene of the helicopter crash to try to recover the remains of the six IAF servicemen and one Romanian soldier killed in Monday’s air disaster.The delegation will photograph the rescue efforts and return to a Romanian air force base where head of the Israeli delegation, Brig.-Gen. Yaakov Sharavni will decide on further operations.
