Top Indonesian terror suspect goes on trial

JAKARTA, Indonesia  — The trial of one of Indonesia's top terrorism suspects has opened in the capital.
Abdullah Sunata is accused of setting up a terrorist cell of Muslim militants with ties to the Middle East and the Philippines.
Prosecutors say he also helped set up a jihadi training camp in westernmost Aceh province to prepare for high profile assassinations and attacks targeting Western hotels and embassies in Jakarta.
Sunata was arrested in June and faces a maximum penalty of death if convicted of violating anti-terrorism laws.
