A top lawyer who has represented figures including former finance minister Avraham Hirchson, and businessmen Arkady Gaydamak and Michael Chernoy was charged Thursday with accepting a bribe and money laundering. According to the indictment served in the Tel Aviv District Court, the attorney, Ya'acov Weinrot, was hired by senior Tax Authority official Yehoshua Vita for a reduced fee, and in exchange, Vita gave tax breaks to some of Weinrot's clients, including Gaydamak and Chernoy. Vita himself was charged with violating public trust and the fraudulent receipt of goods.
