Treasury officially approves raise in police salaries

Officials from the Finance and Public Security Ministries signed a new deal that will see a substantial raise in Israel Police and Prison Service salaries, from 5,000 shekels a month to 7,000.
The deal, which was agreed upon on July 30, will take effect in September, and will apply to all officers in their first five to six years in the force, who until now have struggled to survive financially with the previous low salaries.
Police officials said negotiations were still underway to improve police pensions, and other conditions of service in the force.
