Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced Friday that he has canceled a scheduled speaking engagement in Chicago, Illinois due to security concerns, according to NBC news.
Trump, who was to address supporters and protestors at the University of Illinois-Chicago Pavilion Friday afternoon, has been a controversial figure since he launched his campaign for the presidency late last year.
He has called for the cessation of Muslim travel to the United States and has promised to construct a wall separating the US and Mexico at the latter's expense.
