Turkish President Abdullah Gul denied the London Times report which argued that Turkey is choosing to turn its back on Israel and the West in order to get closer to Iran, Reuters reported Thursday.

"The fac that Turkey has interests in other areas does not mean that we are distancing ourselves from the West, turning our back on the West or are looking for an alternative to the West," he said. "Turkey is part of Europe."
