Police said Saturday they are investigating whether an Israeli Arab suspected in a stabbing spree across three U.S. states that left five men dead was involved in yet another slaying in 2009.
Elias Abuelazam lived in the area of the killing at one time and knew the victim, police spokesman Chris Jones said.
Abuelazam, 33, who is a suspect in stabbings in three U.S. states, was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, Wednesday as he prepared to board a flight to Tel Aviv. He grew up nearby, in a small Arab Christian community in the Israeli town of Ramle.
He is a suspect in a total of 18 attacks. The first 14 occurred in and around Flint, Michigan beginning May 24 and ending early this month. They were followed by two knifings and a hammer attack in Leesburg, Virginia, and a stabbing in Toledo, Ohio.
