Venezuelan president arrives in Libya as part of ME trip

TRIPOLI, Libya — Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez arrived in Libya Friday for talks expected to focus on boosting economic ties.
Chavez met with Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi shortly after landing in the capital of Tripoli.
The Venezuelan president is expected to hold more talks with Gadhafi and senior Libyan officials on Saturday and to sign economic cooperation agreements. No further details were immediately available.
Chavez is also to receive an honorary degree from Tripoli's Academy of Higher Education.
The Venezuelan leader has already made stops in Iran and Syria on his Middle East trip.
