Shas spiritual leader Rabbi Ovadia Yosef did not express support for an east Jerusalem construction moratorium, Interior Minister and party chairman Eli Yishai said Friday, denying a report that appeared in the Ma’ariv newspaper the previous day.

In a statement, Yishai said Yosef had instructed all party officials to oppose such a building freeze “in every forum."
