Tuesday, September 18 THE FOURTH Economic Conference on Israeli Cinema will take place at Cinema City, Glilot Junction, from 9:30 a.m. with the participation of Science Culture and Sports Minister Raleb Majadele, Israel Film Council Chairman Roni Milo, Israel Motion Picture Academy chairman Mark Rosenbaum, outgoing Finance Ministry Comptroller General Yaron Zelekha and many other leading figures who will address subjects such as budgets for movie productions, the Strum Report, public financing for cinema, Channel One and Israeli cinema, movies and Internet, Jewish versus Arab images in Israeli movies, documentaries and other related subjects. BAR ILAN University has organized a multi-choice dialogue on a series of burning issues including the dilemma of what to do with the Darfur refugees from a halachic and moral Jewish standpoint. Wednesday, September 19 THE BEGIN-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies will host the annual Madam Madeleine Feher Lecture on The Radical Islamist Threat in the Southeast Mediterranean. The lecture will take place in the Beck Auditorium, Bar Ilan University at 5 p.m. and will be presented by Prof. Ioannis Mazis, Professor of Geopolitics at the Ionian University, Corfu and Chairman of the Scientific Board of the Defense Analyses Institute of the Greek Ministry of National Defense in Athens. THE DRUZE community of Daliyat El Carmel will host a tribute to the memory of former prime minister Menachem Begin. The event was initiated and organized by former MK Amal Nasereldeen who is chairman of the Druze Yad L'Banim and a member of the public council of the Menachem Begin Heritage Center. The government of Israel will be represented by Social Affairs, Diaspora and the Fight Against Anti-Semitism Minister Isaac Herzog, who will deliver the keynote address. Other personalities expected to attend the event and to deliver greetings or short addresses are former government minister Prof. Moshe Arens, former MK Amnon Linn and Sheikh Tarif, the spiritual leader of the Druze community. There will also be a panel of Druze and Jewish speakers. Thursday, October 25 THE 11th Ernst & Young Journey Conference will take place at the David Intercontinental Hotel, Tel Aviv, with a series of lectures and workshops. The subject matter of the conference will relate to the journey from start-up to market leader with discussions on trends, exits, private equity, clean tech, technological communications, and capital markets.
