The average gross monthly salary in August fell by 2.4 percent from the previous month, according to data released by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Monday. There were 2.57 million Israeli workers during the month. From July to August, the average wage decreased by NIS 186 to NIS 7,629 from 7,815 On a year-on-year comparison with August 2005, the average wage increased by 4.4%, or NIS 338. The average monthly wage of 64,900 legal foreign workers was NIS 4,291 in August.
