Within the next week, the government will receive NIS 14 million from "Derech Eretz," the operating company of Highway 6, as for the first time since it opened in 2004, the highway surpassed its projected profit target. Under terms agreed upon between the government and Derech Eretz in 2004, a pre-determined profit mark will be established at the beginning of every year. Should the highway fail to reach the mark, as it did in 2004-2007, the government will pay the company the difference between the profit earned and the profit target. In the three years prior to 2007, the government paid Derech Eretz some NIS 100m.
