Diamond exports rise in March

The US continues to be the most valuable market for exports, with 57% of polished diamonds being exported there.

Polished diamond exports rose 6.4% in March over year ago levels, but fell 2.6% in the first quarter, according to the Ministry of Industry, Trade & Labor. The US continues to be the most valuable market for exports, with 57% of polished diamonds being exported there. Hong Kong has 14% of the market, followed by Switzerland at 11%, Belgium at 7% and China at 2%. Raw diamond exports for March fell 3.8% while imports of the raw stones dropped 31%.
