Rede Electrica Naciona (REN), a Portuguese electrical transmission company, has chosen Petah Tikva-based ECI Telecom to supply it with optical transmission solutions, following the successful collaboration between the two companies on REN's SDH network. The proposed new REN network will cover over 1,00 kilometers in northern and central Portugal, and is currently in the deployment stage. ECI said the deal helped consolidate its "strong position in the optical transmission market for utilities."
