The stormy weather pounding Israel over the past day has caused a record level of energy consumption by the industry sector, Moshe Cohen, chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Israel's Energy Commission, said Tuesday. Electricity consumption was up 2 percent to 3% compared to an average winter day, he said. The country's electricity reserves were inadequate, Cohen said. He called on Israel Electric to establish more power stations as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the Jerusalem branch of the Manufacturers Association said all factories in the capital were working at full capacity, and 70%-90% of employees showed up for work on Tuesday despite the snowfall.
