The average monthly cost of running a motor vehicle rose 5 percent to NIS 2,726 at the beginning of August this year compared to last year, research company Heshev Information Systems said Tuesday. Heshev noted that the average car owner spends NIS 805 on fuel each month, compared to NIS 696 last year, in line with the 16% rise in Octane 95 gasoline year-over-year. Factoring in annual fixed costs such as the license fee and insurance costs, as well as fluctuating expenses, such as gas, repairs and new tires, the average cost per kilometer rose to NIS 2.18, compared to NIS 2.08 based on July 2005 prices.
