Consumers undertaking renovations in their homes may have a bit more peace of mind that they aren't getting ripped off after the Contractors and Refurbishers Association on Monday launched an official price list for renovation work to make it easier for the public to compare prices. "The price list is another important step to establish this sector and to reduce its inherent lack of certainty," said Eran Ziv, chairman of the Association. The price list, which can be viewed for free on the "Meshapzim" Web site, is divided into 11 main sections such as building works, electricity works, paint, sealing, plumbing and flooring. The list is put together by refurbishment companies that are members of the association. In addition, the site offers the possibility of calculating the cost of renovating your house. For example, the installation of a washing machine point is priced at NIS 380; a plaster ceiling should cost NIS 200 per meter; and painting a standard room in acrylic color should cost NIS 850.
