Polished diamond exports rise in July

Net polished diamond exports rose 20.8 percent in July to $644 million compared with $533m. in July 2005, while polished diamond imports increased 27.1% to $381m. from $300m. last year.

Net polished diamond exports rose 20.8 percent in July to $644 million compared with $533m. in July 2005, while polished diamond imports increased 27.1% to $381m. from $300m. last year. In the first seven months of the year, polished diamond exports increased 8.1% in value to $4.2 billion compared with the $3.9b. during the same period last year. Net rough diamond exports also continued to rise in July amounting to $266.8m, representing a 36.3% increase from the $195.7m. in July 2006. At the same time, Israel last month imported $492.7m. worth of rough diamonds, a 44% increase compared to the $342m. in July 2006.
