Trade with Russia totalled $1.25 billion in the first nine months of the year, 57 percent more than in the first nine months of 2004, the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry said Sunday.
Israel exported $297 million in goods to Russia - 29% more than one year before - and imported $953m. worth, or 69% more. Hi-tech products constituted the most significant component in Israeli exports to Russia.
Separately, Finance and Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Ehud Olmert told the Israel Diamond Industrialists Association to expect more direct and deeper trade relations with the Russian diamond industry, citing "contacts being built currently," particularly with Russian rough diamond giant Alrosa.
