The Bank of Israel plans to put the new two-shekel coin into circulation beginning Sunday.
The coin will be larger than the one-shekel coin and smaller than the five-shekel coin and will have grooved sides.
The BOI believes that a two-shekel coin will facilitate cash payments by reducing the number of coins necessary for a given transaction.
