Finance Ministry Wage Supervisor Ozer Berkovitch sent an order to the heads of Israel's universities requiring them to provide data on employees' wages and retirees' pensions from 1998 to April 2006.
The Technion, University of Haifa, Weizmann Institute, Ben-Gurion University, the Hebrew University, Bar-Ilan University and the University of Tel Aviv must also detail how the wages and pensions are calculated.
The ministry may freeze funding of universities that do not provide the data by June 30. Berkovitch said he intends to renew dialogue with the universities on supervision of wages due to the universities' budget crisis.
