Israeli Speakers at TEDx Jerusalem

The popular open source series has come to Israel.

Open source knowledge is there, if we look for it. The knowledge is also there because of amazing organizations such as TED. Started over 26 years ago, TED is a nonprofit devoted to “Ideas Worth Spreading.” TED talks, where leaders around the world share their life’s work in 15 minutes, are one of the best examples of open source knowledge.
TEDx Jerusalem, which featured some of Israel’s greatest innovators, took place recently. (The “x” means that it is a locally organized event outside of TED’s center in California.) Here are D’’ash’s top 10 speakers from the event! 1. Gideon Amichay is an award-winning advertising executive who recently published the book “No, No, No, No, No, No, No, Yes” about innovation and creativity.
2. Or Sagy realized that bacteria could be used to replicate data. And he’s only 17! 3. Liraz Lasry holds a PhD in marketing and showed us the main aspects of successful trends.
4. Adital Ela, a TED fellow and sustainability designer, asked, “How can products, like people, come from dust and to dust return?” To do this, she made recyclable furniture.
5. Professor Amir Amedi presented brain research where he taught blind people how to see with their ears.
6. Doctor Amal Ayoub is curing cancer with golden nano-particles.
7. An expert on all things DIY, Yanki Margalit encouraged us to teach ourselves how to do various things, such as build our own computers, test our own DNA, and print our own money.
8. Rabbi Shoshana Boyd Gelfand explained her theory of “polarity management,” which is when two feelings (such as ethnic identity and global identity) can both be correct and interdependent. This “passionate openness” can help with conflict resolution.
9. Hanoch Piven, whose playful collage portraits of famous people have appeared in many famous magazines, such as Time and Newsweek, told us what he learned about life from 20 years of playing with bananas.
10. Fuad Abu Hamed, who is a lecturer in business administration at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, talked about improving the quality of a community (especially for Arab residents of Jerusalem) by investing in the environment.
