An Islamic Jihad operative was killed and two others were wounded in the central Gaza Strip on Wednesday, Gaza hospital officials and Islamic Jihad said, in an explosion they blamed on an Israeli air strike, but the military denied this.

An army spokeswoman said there had been no military activity in the area. "It definitely wasn't us," she said.
The Islamic Jihad group said the three men were members of their organization.
It was a second straight day in which gunmen died in the Gaza Strip. On Tuesday troops killed a Palestinian gunman and wounded two civilians during an incursion into the southern Gaza Strip.
