An IDF soldier was killed while taking part in the clearing of a minefield in the southern Golan Heights.
The soldier, who was identified on Wednesday morning as Private Roi (Israel) Alphi from Gan Yavne, was of the Engineering Corps. His family has been notified.
Ground Forces Commander Maj.-Gen. Guy Tzur appointed a committee of inquiry to investigate the incident.

The soldiers had found and exposed a number of mines, and marked them ahead of their clearance. For an unknown reason, one of the mine exploded, killing the soldier.
The mine was in full view of the soldiers and had been identified, the source said.
