Israeli forces fired into the Gaza Strip on Tuesday to kill two gunmen from an al-Qaida-affiliated Palestinian faction who approached the boundary fence, Palestinian medical officials said. An Israeli security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the gunmen were suspected of preparing to fire a rocket across the border into Israel.

The two dead and a comrade wounded in the shelling belonged to the Tawheed and Jihad group, radical Islamists who have challenged Hamas rule over the Palestinian enclave, sources said.
