Jay Leno helps raise $5 million for United Hatzalah at gala
Money goes toward medical equipment for Israeli first-responders.

Friends of United Hatzalah of Israel held its first ever Annual Los Angeles Gala, at which the organization raised $5 million.United Hatzalah of Israel is a non-profit, volunteer organization that provides some of the fastest emergency medical care in the country. According to its website, the organization has more than 5,000 volunteers available 24/7, who respond to emergency medical event by ambucyle (medically-equipped motorcycle). The volunteers provide first-response medical care until an ambulance arrives.At the gala, the organization awarded Jay Leno its Humanitarian Award for his support of United Hatzalah. Actor Jon Voight was also in attendance, while Israeli pop star Dudu Aharon gave a performance.“This was an incredible evening, the support from the Los Angeles community at our first ever gala is going to help us continue to provide fast and free emergency medical response across Israel,” said President and Founder of United Hatzalah of Israel, Eli Beer.Over the course of the evening, the organization raised 100 ambucycles as well as 100 defibrillators.
