Joe the Plumber, the Republican congressional candidate formally known as Samuel Wurzelbacher, has put out a video in which he suggests that gun control laws were responsible for the Holocaust and genocide of six million Jews.
"In 1911, Turkey established gun control... from 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians - unable to defend themselves - were exterminated," Wurzelbacher says of the Ottoman Empire.
"In 1939, Germany established gun control. From 1939 to 1945, six million Jews and seven million others, unable to defend themselves, were exterminated," he continued.
The implication, which candidate spelled out on his YouTube page, is that when government does bad things, citizens must be armed to stop it.
The 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees the right to bear arms, "is "our last line of defense in the face of an out-of-control government," he wrote.
