Colombian-born pop star Shakira will speak at the three-day Israeli Presidential Conference, beginning on June 21.
Shakira, currently the goodwill ambassador of the UNICEF, will open the conference on Tuesday evening – with the theme “Looking towards tomorrow” – and speak about the importance of education for all children as a path to peace, as well as her philanthropic work across the world.

Shakira founded the Barefoot Organization (Pies Descalzados, named after her first major album) to increase educational opportunities for children in Colombia and around the world.
The conference, which brings together 3,500 leaders in the Jewish world, also features big names such as American comedian Sarah Silverman, whose sister is a rabbi in Israel, and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales.
It will be the first visit to Israel for Shakira, whose father is Lebanese. There were rumors in March that Shakira would perform in Israel sometime in the spring during her European tour, though those rumors were never realized.
