'Comparing Muslims and Catholics is wrong; correct comparison is Christians to Muslims'

TODAY'S HOT POTATO: Taken from article: Vatican: Islam biggest religion in the world Talkback #: 6 Talkbacker: Josh Text: This comparison is invalid because it is comparing the total numbers of one sect of Christianity to the total number of Muslims. The correct comparison is of total Christians to total Muslims. Comparing Christian sects, like Catholicism, to Muslim sects is impossible because the latter are only vaguely defined. Should one compare the number of Catholics to the number of Sunnis, the number of Sunnis not otherwise classified (like Belgikh,s Sufis, etc.) or Sunnis by shariah school (Hanafi, etc.)?
