ABOUT YOU >>> Age: 36 Residence: Texas Married? With children? Engaged, no childred (yet) Current occupation: Self-Employed (Dramatic Arts) Dream job/career: Film Producer What are you most proud of: The Jewish community here in Dallas and the amazing work they/we do Religious affiliation / observance: Reform but Highly Observant Last person / party I voted for: Obama in the Texas primary & caucus (the "Texas Two-Step") Next person / party I will vote for: Whoever wins the Democratic Nomination My history (100 words max): I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada and have been on the move ever since. I have lived in 5 countries, 10 US states and 20 cities worldwide. In my childhood, I raised American Quarter Horses. As an adult I own dogs and build motorcycles. Life is fun! Family history (100 words max): Both my father and mother's people come from Germany, but over the generations, one group traveled west through Russia (living there was fifty-six years) before reaching the west coast of America while the other went east and landed on the east coast. They started out 100-kilometers away from each other only to find each other on the other side of the world in Jacksonville, Florida Greatest invention: Mine or someone else's? ;) I have to say that I am addicted to my cell phone and my laptop If you could have dinner with any person in the world it would be: Alexander the Great would be an amazing conversation, Golda Meir is one of my personal heros and (don't judge me) John Wayne. I have been a fan my whole life If you could go anywhere on vacation, it would be: Israel. I've never been but we are saving our pennies now for the trip! Feminine/masculine trait I'd like to have: Let me think about this one... What angers you: Willful ignorance and an unwillingness to accept facts over superstitions What makes you happy: My fiance, my Shul, Shabbat, good food, good wine, cooking for my friends and family Last book I read was: "Polodoxy" by Dr. Alvin Reines Comfort food: Guacomole and corn ships Anything you regret? Don't we all? But I try to live without regret whenever possible My life five years from now: Married, some kids, considering making Aliyah You may not like it but I have something controversial to say: If we as a PEOPLE can not find a way to co-exist, regardless of our individual levels of observance, then we are doomed. The attitude of the Orthodox community towards (or against) Liberal Judaism is destructive. Cash our checks and accept our help but make no room for us in Israel. The reality is that those of us in Western Liberal Jewish communities are VERY concerned with the well-being and safety of Israel and our peoples there. Simply because many of us wish for peace instead of all out war does NOT mean that we are not prepared fight to the death to protect our homeland. If we can't learn to exist as one people (even as "tribes" within the same people) then we won't have to worry about the threat of Arab / Persian agression; we will become our own worst probrlem and the means of our own destruction Happiness: 1-10 (10 being the happiest) 9 Click here to leave a message for D.
