ILAN Accessible Recreation Site Dedicated in Ilanot Forest

On January 14, KKL-JNF dedicated a new ILAN playground and picnic area is dedicated in Ilanot forest, in honor of ILAN's 60th birthday. This recreation site, including the playground equipment, is fully accessible to people with disabilities. The ceremony included tree planting for children with disabilities from the Ohn elementary school in Tel Aviv.

"A society is measured by how much it cares about accessibility. KKL-JNF is an organization committed to both accessibility and to nature, and for me, this is an expression of true Zionism." Knesset Member Ilan Gilon was speaking on Tuesday, January 14, at the dedication ceremony of the new ILAN Recreation Site in Ilanot Forest, in honor of Ilan's sixtieth anniversary. The Israel National Insurance Institute also contributed towards building the site, which is fully accessible to the physically disabled and includes accessible playground equipment.

KKL-JNF World Chairman Efi Stenzler reminded the audience that KKL-JNF has been Israel's forester for 113 years. "The trees here bring the temperature down by an average of 4 degrees and help combat global warming," Stenzler said, "but besides their ecological importance, forests also provide a public service. KKL-JNF's forests are open to the public, free of charge, 365 days a year, and when we say 'public', we mean the entire public, including people who have physical challenges. This is a true example of social justice.
