One of the diverse excursions and events organized by KKL-JNF for the Passover holiday was a guided family outing in Tel Yizreel in the footsteps of Bible heroes. The tour was led by KKL-JNF National Service guides, and included activities for children and encounters with characters from the history of the region, in the various sites developed and maintained by KKL-JNF with the assistance of its friends all over the world.

The city of Yizreel was an important center in the biblical period, and it is mentioned in the Bible in different contexts. The city’s importance is evident when King Saul chooses to establish his army base for fighting the Philistines in Ein Yizreel at the foot of Tel Yizreel. “The Philistines gathered all their camps in Afek, and Israel was encamped at the spring in Yizreel” (Samuel I 29:1).  KKL

The trail from Tel Yizreel to Ein Yizreel and the spring itself have been rehabilitated by KKL-JNF and have become a popular site for hiking, where visitors may enjoy the beauty of the landscape and hear familiar Bible stories right where the events took place.
