Peruvian Minister of Agriculture Plants Tree in Jerusalem Hills

“The great symbolism of planting a tree is connected to creating life in such problematic geographical conditions as those in Israel,” said the Minister of Agriculture of Peru, as he planted a tree at the Kennedy Memorial in the Jerusalem Hills on Monday, October 21.

During his brief two-day visit to Israel at the invitation of KKL-JNF, Milton von Hesse La Serna, the Minister of Agriculture of Peru, was welcomed at the KKL-JNF VIP tree planting center at the Kennedy Memorial in the Jerusalem Hills to plant a tree.

“Every time we plant, we create life, and since afforestation is so important, it makes me happy to be doing this in Israel. They also told me that if you plant a tree, you return, and I believe and hope I shall be back,” said the Minister.

“I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to share with you what I like to call ‘the tree ceremony,’ especially in Israel,” said the Minister with emotion, “where the desert is being gradually greened, by man, with plants. This shows that if everything is done in harmony, everyone can achieve their goal.”
