KKL-JNF and the Gavriel School of Performing Arts in Dimona officially inaugurated their Green Classroom and participation in the KKL-JNF Youth Leadership Program on June 18.
Congratulating them on a job well done after joining the program in March, Yirmi David, National Director of KKL-JNF’s Youth Leadership program, told the students they were the future leaders and activists of Israel.
“You are our future,” he said. “If any child here today feels weak, know that in the future with a bit of effort, you are the ones who will lead and do things in this country. Through our leadership program, we want to give you the ability to do small things perhaps today in your school, but this will help you develop you into leaders and activists of your communities and country.”
David told his audience that there are currently 433 youth leadership classrooms throughout the country in all population sectors of Israel and another 45 are in the planning stage.
Students who take part in the program meet throughout the year and learn about the environment, ecology, Zionism, sustainability, Jewish heritage and personal responsibility through various hands-on activities.
Students surprised their KKL-JNF guests with a performance of the KKL-JNF anthem and presented David with a special album of thank-you messages, which they put together themselves. The student council president, Yirmi David and Tal Ido-Maloul signed a pact re-affirming the significance of their work and vowing to continue with their cooperation.
