The ceremony was attended by senior hospital executives, senior KKL-JNF representatives, the donors, and their family members and friends.
“We will work continuously to promote health for all people of all nationalities, races and religions,” Dr. Max Glassman said at the plaque unveiling ceremony, which took place on Sunday, September 21, at the site where the new clinics are to be constructed.
“After so many years during which the hospital has suffered from inadequate conditions, we are now on our way to a new era, thanks to you,” said Dr. Yehezkel Caine, General Director of the hospital, to the Glassman family.
The Sarah Herzog Hospital focuses on geriatrics and psychiatrics, addressing a range of medical issues typical to aging and mental illness. The medical center combines advanced technologies, professional experience and dedicated care giving, along with the application of innovative research conducted here. The hospital currently has 330 beds, and the new building, which will be called The Dr. Max and Gianna Glassman Mental Health Center, will add another 270 beds to the complex.
Dr. Caine said that some of the hospital departments had to move from one rented place to another over the years, and other departments had to share rooms and operate in a partial way due to lack of space. “We are very excited about this cooperation with the Glassman family and with JNF Toronto,” said the General Director of the hospital.
