“I believe that by cooperating on environmental matters we can solve political conflicts in the region,” said European Parliament member Dr. Antonyia Parvanova of Bulgaria in the course of her visit to Israel. For four days she toured the country, meeting KKL-JNF leaders and acquiring a first-hand knowledge of the various projects in which KKL-JNF is involved. The main emphasis was on energy and water resources, issues of major concern to Dr. Parvanova.
“KKL JNF is involved in so many different areas that make a contribution to society and the environment: afforestation, developing water resources, agriculture, developing natural sites for the benefit of the general public and launching projects that create more jobs,” this European Parliament member said in the course of a day devoted entirely to introducing her to KKL-JNF’s projects in central and northern Israel. “This is an organization that does amazing work and makes a significant contribution to society,” she said.
Dr. Parvanova, a qualified medical practitioner, has been a member of the European Parliament since 2009. She is vice-chair of the Committee for Energy, Environment and Water and a member of the Committee on Women’s Rights, Public Health and Consumer Protection. Prior to her election to the European Parliament, she was a member of the Bulgarian Parliament.
“A campaign against Israel and KKL-JNF is underway abroad,” said Dr. Parvanova, “And in many cases it’s based on disinformation and a lack of understanding. It’s very important to come here and get to know the country as it really is,” concluded the European parliamentarian.
