The largest delegation ever from Latin America, including 106 participants, 80% of whom had never visited Israel previously, arrived recently, headed by the continental shaliah, Michael Adari.
The delegates were welcomed at a festive ceremony by KKL-JNF World Chairman, Efi Stentzler, Mordechai Dayan, of the KKL-JNF Directorate and Rabbi Yerahmiel Barylka, Director of the Latin American Desk and enjoyed a fascinating and rich fifteen-day program, visiting KKL-JNF sites and major projects throughout the country.
In Sderot, they were very moved by the words of the mayor, Eli Moyal; they visited Hamisha Park, built with contributions of Friends of KKL-JNF Mexico. A festive celebration was held for the delegation at Lavi Forest, where a fire engine was dedicated to the memory of Dr. Gilbert Levi, z"l, purchased through contributions of the family and the Argentinean community. Indeed, from Argentina, several KKL-JNF directors, community leaders and the press gave heartwarming addresses at the ceremony.
Delegates also visited the Israel-Argentina Friendship Park in Modi'in and the impressive Lake Hula. They expressed a deep sense of satisfaction with their visit and as one of them put it: "In my previous three visits to Israel, I didn't see even a quarter of what I saw with this delegation." Other delegates were amazed to see "how a country, most of whose budget is devoted to security and defense, is capable of funding these amazing projects for the benefit of its citizens - thanks to our KKL-JNF support worldwide."
