The Sharona Water Reservoir
Successful Fundraising Dinner in KKL-JNF Geneva
The relatively new tradition of Fundraising-Dinners organized by KKL-JNF Geneva continued this year. Some 200 guests gathered in the Salons of the classy Beau Rivage Hotel on Geneva’s Lake for a dinner in support of KKL's Sharona Water Reservoir project in Lower Galilee.
The guest of honor and key note speaker was the renowned French writer and philosopher Bernard Henri Levy
who spoke about the delegitimizing of Israel.
Famous for his longstanding combat against intolerance worldwide and for his fight for freedom for all men and women, Bernard Henri Levy gave a most attentive audience tools to rebate mostly unjustified accusations against the politics of the State of Israel and arguments to clarify and reject lies often spread by ignorant or malicious public opinion.Mrs Viviane Bernstein
, Delegate and President of KKL for the French Speaking part of Switzerland, welcomed the guests in a short speech followed by an 8 minute movie describing the crucially important work KKL-JNF is doing in the water and irrigation sector so vital for Israel and other parts of the world. Musical intermezzo by the Acteon string and piano quintet who played the mouvement in la majeur by Antonin Dvorak op81 rounded up the classy event.
Other speakers were H.E Ahron Leschno Yaar, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, attending with wife, Mr Jariv Sultan, Director General of KKL Switzerland and Karinn Kenze Prudent, Vice President of KKL Geneva, who made a beautiful introduction for Bernard Henri Levy who thanked her for this most touching description of him and his work.
Master of ceremony was Irith Rappaport.
Amongst the guests were: Grand Rabbin Marc Raphaël Guedj, Grand Rabbin
Dr. Itzhak Dayan and his wife, Alain- Bruno Lévy, Président of the
Cicad (Information Center against Anti-Semitism and Defamation) and his
wife Alice, Darius Rochebin, journalist, anchor of the 19h30 main news
edition of the TSR (Swiss Radio Television Station), Albert Lawi,
