Leaders of KKL-JNF and JNF USA, as well as representatives from the Maccabiah Committee of 18 in Los Angeles, and families of Maccabiah participants, all gather together to plant trees in Nachshon Forest near Jerusalem on July 23, 2013. This special tree planting session was held to mark the special occasion of the 19th Maccabiah.

KKL-JNF has been a supporter of the Maccabiah games since 1934, which is, in the words of KKL-JNF World Chairman Efi Stenzler, "an investment in our future generation."
"I landed in Israel yesterday, and so far, the greatest quote I've heard is from my grandson: 'The best part of being at the Maccabiah is meeting Jews from so many places around the world",' said JNF USA President Mr. Stanley Chesley.

Russell Robinson, CEO of JNF USA, said that he had just been with a Nefesh b'Nefesh flight of 300 new immigrants to Israel, a third of whom are planning to make their homes in the Negev and Galilee. "Today you are planting trees here, and these immigrants have chosen to plant their lives in Israel. This is a place where Jews can come to from all over the world, just like the athletes of the many countries participating in the Macabbiah."KKL

Steve Soboroff, chairman of the Maccabiah Games Los Angeles Committee of 18 said that "there's no wrong way to come to Israel, and the Maccabiah is a great way. We'll be going back to the USA, but with a purpose – to bring more people here. While we're away, the trees we plant will be here and will grow. I want to thank KKL-JNF for giving us this opportunity."
