Two new picnic areas in KKL-JNF's Horshim Forest in Kfar Saba were dedicated in a joyous and intimate ceremony on July 25th. The picnic areas were donated by the Jewish community of Monterrey, Mexico. The inauguration was held in the presence of KKL Monterrey president Jacobo Wengrowsky, who spearheaded the campaign for the project. Wengrowsky's extended family, who accompanied him to Israel, was also present.
Wengrowsky has a connection with the organization going back generations - his grandfather Nojem Wengrowsky was the founder of KKL-JNF in Monterrey.
In addition to his wife Tammy and his children, Wengrowsky was accompanied by his parents, Esther and Martin Wengrowsky and his siblings Moisés Wengrowsky and his wife Nancy, Judy Drucker and her husband Jaime, Fany Altschuler and her husband Harry, and Cecilia Bessoudo and her husband Jacques, together with their families.
The two new picnic areas, which were dedicated in memory of the community’s late rabbi, Moisés Kaiman, are located in the heart of the forest and include stone benches, bonfires areas, wooden picnic tables and receptacles for used charcoal and garbage disposal. There will also be posts for tethering horses.
“This forest is a very important green lung for the residents of this area,” Salamon said. “They come here to enjoy nature and to strengthen their connection to our land. Thank you to all our friends in the Jewish community of Monterrey and also to Jacobo for all your efforts in making this project a reality. Your help is very important to KKL-JNF and the land which belongs to all of us.”
