It has already become an established tradition. This year, too, KKL-JNF will be distributing Christmas trees to local churches, monasteries, convents, embassies and representatives of the foreign press.

KKL-JNF foresters grow Arizona Cedars, selected as the most beautiful and suitable to serve as Christmas trees, in a special plot adjacent to the KKL-JNF offices in Givat Yishayahu. The trees are brought there from KKL-JNF's Eshtaol nursery as year-old saplings and are carefully tended for another two years until they grow to a height of around two meters.

Distribution is carried out in accordance with lists provided by Israel's Ministry of the Interior, the Jerusalem Municipality and other public bodies - and private individuals may also buy a tree for a token sum. In central Israel, KKL-JNF foresters will distribute the trees in the cedar grove adjacent to KKL-JNF's offices in Givat Yishayahu, by 12th-24th December 2009, between the hours of 8.00 and 15.00.
