Finland - Seppo Seppala Forest Grove Dedicated KKL-JNF recently held a ceremony dedicating a grove in honor of Seppo Seppala, the editor of the Karmel Association of Finland, which donated the grove in honor of his 75th birthday. Participating in the ceremony were Josef Haseen, former Israeli Ambassador to Finland, Pentii Holi, executive director of the Karmel Association, Louis Levinsky, president of KKL-JNF Finland, Rabbi Uri Shwartz, who for many years was the Finland community rabbi, and about fifty Finnish tourists. Seppo Seppala is a good friend of Israel and KKL-JNF. As a priest who speaks an excellent Hebrew, he translated the first and only Hebrew-Finnish dictionary. France - Jacques Icek (Yitzhak) Oks Memorial Forest Grove Dedicated Another KKL-JNF forest grove was dedicated in Mishmar Haemek, in memory of Jacques Icek Oks, in the presence of members of the Oks family from France, together with Michael Bar-Tzvi, KKL-JNF shaliah to France. The 3,000 tree forest grove dedicated by the family, closed a circle connected to the family history. The modest contribution of the late Yitzhak Oks to KKL-JNF - three trees in memory of Holocaust victims, for which he received a certificate in Yiddish - eventually, became the first trees of the forest grove now dedicated by his family in his own memory. Germany - Birdwatchers Delegation A group of 25 friends of KKL-JNF from Germany, staunch KKL-JNF supporters, completed a ten-day visit to Israel in the wake of bird migration and to visit KKL-JNF projects all over Israel. The experience of the fascinating journey to Israel, including observing some 30,000 cranes who came for sleepovers at the Hula Lake, was described by Mr. Roth, one of the members of the delegation, in a beautiful poem, in which he also thanked KKL-JNF and the two shlichim who accompanied the group, Tzachi Ganor and Reuven Barak. I am proud to be part of the global effort to make our land sustainable," said Samuel Hayek, the newly elected chairman of KKL-JNF UK. "The new board will also exhaust every avenue to find a peaceful settlement to the dispute with the JNF," he added. Samuel Hayek is a businessman with considerable business interests in Great Britain and Israel, previously a senior aide to former Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon. He has been engaged in charitable activity in Israel through his educational grant program for students in Israel.
