Ofir Yaakov, musician, artist and mountaineer, was hiking along the Israel Trail when he heard of the huge fire in the Carmel Forests. Because of his profound attachment to the forests, he felt unable to continue on his way, and returned home. When he realized the magnitude of the disaster, he wrote a song expressing his feelings, and set it to music.
Ofir is a nature enthusiast who teaches others about the importance of environmental conservation. For many years now he has been exploring and studying the Carmel region and passing on the knowledge he has acquired. To help with the rehabilitation of the forests, and in order “to repay this amazing place for all the goodness, wisdom and knowledge it has given me,” he has decided to present his song to KKL-JNF and donate the royalties in their entirety to KKL-JNF’s restoration work in the Carmel Forests.
