Following the gala opening reception on Saturday evening, KKL-JNF World Leadership Conference participants toured northern Israel yesterday. Their destination was the Israel Air Force (IAF) base in Ramat David, where they were not only thrilled to meet the amazing Israeli pilots but also had an opportunity to see at close range the unique collaboration between KKL-JNF and the IAF in developing pleasant green meeting areas for the benefit of the soldiers at the base and their families. Three main projects were completed by KKL-JNF at Ramat David, with the help of its Friends worldwide: the soldiers and parents meeting area at the entrance to the base, the installation of outdoor fitness and sports equipment, and a shaded seating area within the base. KKL

The soldiers and parents meeting area was developed by KKL-JNF thanks to a contribution from Nettie & Manuel Fisher from San Diego, California, USA. The green grass, the benches shaded with decorative wooden pergolas, the easy footpath between the tall date palms, and the pretty landscaping enable the soldiers to sit with their family members who come to visit them in a beautiful green area. This is where they can hear a word of encouragement from relatives and friends, where they can get a hug from Mom and Dad, where they can get a taste of some of the home cooking their parents brought along. This is where the soldiers get a moment of reprieve, a chance to relax a little from the stress of the combat base and renew their strength for further military duties.
