KKL-JNF WLC participants touring northern Israel yesterday had an authentic Galilee experience that included a short jeep trip in the scenic terrain of Misgav, a musical performance in Ohel Yael next to Yodfat, panoramic observation points of the beautiful landscapes of the Galilee, and a close encounter with the sustainable development being led by KKL-JNF in the region for the benefit of all its inhabitants.
The Mayor of the Misgav Regional Council, Ron Shamir, told the WLC guests about the communities located within the Council borders, which number 5,000 residents and are constantly growing. He spoke a little about the history of the area and about 2,000 years of Jewish presence there.
“KKL-JNF contributes a great deal to us for developing the vicinity,” said Shamir. “It wasn’t just one of the main forces behind the establishment of the developments about 30 years ago, it continues to support us year after year.” Shamir especially noted the productive cooperation with friends of JNF Australia, who supported many projects in the area.
In order to get a better understanding of the Galilee and of the sustainable development being led by KKL-JNF, the WLC participants went on a jeep tour. During the ride, they heard about the old and new villages in the region, the development of historical sites, environmental development, afforestation, industry and coexistence.
