KKL-JNF will be participating in the conference as a social organization with observer status and will be presenting its activities in creating a greener world with a unique pavilion and a side-event on afforestation and desertification.

The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD COP13) is a professional conference that takes place every two years with the participation of 1,400 representatives from 196 member organizations, including countries, NGOs and international organizations that are involved in combatting desertification.

As a result of KKL-JNF’s participation in UNCCD events marking “World Day to Combat Desertification” that took place as part of the Expo Milano 2015 fair, KKL-JNF was awarded accreditation as a social organization with observer status at the conference, which makes its participation at the current conference possible.

This year, KKL-JNF will be hosting a side-event on the topic of Afforestation in a Changing Environment - Israel's Challenges and Achievements Concerning Forestry under the Threat of Desertification and a Changing Climate.

Three lectures will be presented within this framework:

·          Presentation of Techniques of Run-off Water Harvest for Afforestation in Semi-arid Regions in Israel.

·          "Failure is Not an Option" – From Seed Collection to Mature Forests in Israel, Trees are here to Stay!

·         KKL-JNF Water Enterprises Extend Resource Limits, Increases Agriculture and Benefits the Environment in Israel.

At the fair that will be erected as part of the conference, KKL-JNF will present its work in a unique pavilion during the first week of the convention, where special posters, informative booklets and short movie clips on combatting desertification will be on display.

Members of the KKL-JNF delegation to the convention include:

Gil Siaki, Forestry Division, Southern Region, KKL-JNF

Kalil Adar, Foresty Division, Northern Region, KKL-JNF

Victoria Barkagan Myrav, International Project Coordinator, KKL-JNF
