Vilna'i: Despite deal, Hamas, Fatah don't agree on anything

Homeland Security Minister Matan Vilna'i challenged the significance of a reconciliation agreement between Hamas and Fatah scheduled to be signed later Wednesday in Cairo, saying that the rival Palestinian groups don't actually agree on anything.

"The real problem is that there isn't any real agreement between Hamas and Fatah on any subject," Vilna'i told Israel Radio Wednesday morning. He cited Hamas' condemnation of Osama bin Laden as the latest example of fundamental differences between the two groups.

Addressing a decision to withhold tax payment transfers by Israel to the Palestinian Authority in light of Hamas' inclusion in the Palestinian government, Vilna'i called the decision a mistake.

"It's their money," he said, adding that "the moment it becomes clear they're using that money for [terrorist purposes]," Israel should stop transferring the funds. He also challenged the Finance Minister's authority to make such a decision, saying that it must be approved by the government, not just one minister.
