2 Afghan officials killed in Kandahar province bomb blast

A roadside bomb killed a district chief and a police official in southern Afghanistan and wounded four of their guards, a provincial police chief said Tuesday.
The bomb struck a vehicle carrying the officials in Registan district of Kandahar province late Monday, said police chief Matiullah Khan.
Registan's district and police chiefs were killed, Khan said. Four of their bodyguards were wounded.
